In the midst of recent crimes and the increase in the presence of crime in Guerrero, the Association of Police Information Reporters in Guerrero (ARIPG) denounced that state government officials obstruct their reporting work.
Last weekend, ARIPG called on municipal, state and federal authorities to guarantee the free exercise of journalism.
“We demand that the three levels of government address situations that could imply a high risk for those of us who daily go to cover police events,” added the association.
The association also stated that for some time now, the journalists of the “red note” have been intimidated by an individual whose identity is unknown, interrupting the coverage of the story in Chilpancingo.
“While we do our work, in an intimidating manner and without introducing himself or giving further explanation, he approaches us and warns that it is prohibited to record in the area,” said the complainants.
So reporters in Guerrero demand from the authorities guarantees to continue doing their journalistic work, without getting into trouble, “our work is purely professional and impartial.”
It should be noted that just last weekend, 17 violent crimes related to crime were recorded.
