Norma Otilia Hernández Martínez, mayor of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, was expelled from Morena, the party to which she belonged, for an alleged meeting with a drug trafficking leader in June of last year.

The National Commission of Honesty and Justice of the party was the one who unanimously resolved the cancellation of the registration of the municipal president and concluded the matter more than a year after the controversial meeting in a restaurant with the man who was armed.

According to Morena, the meeting of Norma Otilia Hernández Martínez is a “serious violation” of the principles of the party and damaged its image, in addition to the fact that she failed to fulfill her obligation to conduct herself with honesty and integrity.

The document, released by Quadratín, points out that there are 18 pieces of evidence against the meeting of the municipal president of Chilpancingo with a drug trafficking leader, supposedly called Celso Ortega Jiménez.

Finally, the party said that the official transgressed internal rules and failed to comply with moral and party responsibilities. In addition, she is accused of attacking social peace and the well-being of Chilpancingo, the town she governs.

The meeting took place on June 24 of last year. In it, the mayor is seen speaking with the drug trafficking leader, supposedly from Los Ardillos, and tells him that what she wants to know is “how to help,” without caring what the armed man does.

In response to Morena’s resolution to expel Norma Otilia Hernández, the mayor of Chilpancingo said that she will go to court to challenge the decision.

“I appreciate the displays of affection and support; to my fellow fighters, whom I love and respect so much, I say that this is just beginning, because we will continue walking until the fourth transformation reaches every corner of Guerrero. Justice is our flag and the truth is our guide, that is why I will go to the corresponding instances. “Time will prove us right,” the municipal president wrote in X.
