The director of the Vicente Guerrero National Park, Luis Castañeda Muñoz, highlighted his commitment to work for the development and well-being of the recently protected federal zones.

In an interview with reporters, the president of the Ixtapa Hotel Association and general director of the Azul Ixtapa Hotels, explained that a National Park must impact the entire nearby population, which is why work has already begun with the taxi drivers who make room in front of the hotel and the park.

“We are going to build a decent taxi station with bathrooms and a waiting room with federal resources, and the executive project for the rehabilitation of the bike path has already been delivered to the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas, which also includes the construction of toilets, a security booth, surveillance, and signage along the entire bike path that runs through the park,” he said.

Castañeda Muñoz said that a meeting has already been held with the SOS Cocodrilos association and work is being done to reorganize the saurians in the El Negro lagoon on Linda beach.

“A study will be carried out to see if it is possible to develop low-impact ecological tourism, by taking tours in this body of water to see crocodiles in their natural habitat,” he said.

He added that this will include a general census, checking their illnesses and also educating the population not to give them food, because that affects them a lot and changes their way of life.

He explained that meetings will also be held to present the projects to the inhabitants of the colonies and communities surrounding this Protected Natural Area, such as El Posquelite, Barbulillas and San José Ixtapa.

The park is located in the Playa Linda polygon with an area of 723-89-13.05 hectares, and is home to a total of 636 native species, of which 19 plants and 52 animals are endemic.
