Section XIV of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) announced that it will not lift the work stoppage at all educational levels in Guerrero because, so far, the payment schedules owed to workers have not been announced, as agreed at the end of 2024.
In a statement signed by the union leader of Section XIV, Silvano Palacios Salgado, it was reported that the decision to maintain the work stoppage that began in December 2024 will remain in effect until the exact dates on which the outstanding debts will be settled for both active and retired workers are known.
The pending payments include:
Food Bonus for Support and Assistance Personnel for Education (PAAE).
Educational Integration Bonus for Special Education.
End of Year Bonus for Higher Secondary and Technological Level Homologated Personnel.
Bonus for the base staff of the National English Program (PRONI).
Bonus for Retirees.
These commitments were made in meetings held with authorities from the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).
Therefore, the mobilization will continue until workers in the education sector receive the salaries and benefits that, according to the union, are theirs by right.
At the end of 2024, the work stoppage continued and was accompanied by various blockades, mainly on avenues in the center of Chilpancingo, capital of the state of Guerrero, which caused severe traffic problems.
