Teachers from the Guerrero State Coordinator of Education Workers (CETEG) and the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) stormed the Electoral Institute and Citizen Participation (IEPC) and the National Electoral Institute (INE) demanding the repeal of the Law of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE).
“If there is no dialogue with President Claudia Sheinbaum, there will be no judicial elections,” they warned.
At 11:00 a.m., hundreds of teachers arrived at the IEPC building, where they knocked down a metal gate and evicted dozens of local election officials and workers. They painted demands on the windows of all three levels of the building.
An hour and a half later, they headed to the offices of the Local Executive Board of the INE in Guerrero, located in the Progreso neighborhood of Chilpancingo. They smashed down the gate with a Nissan Tsuru and used the force of 10 teachers.
Inside, they painted walls, windows, and two luxury government vehicles that were parked in the esplanade. There, they warned that if President Claudia Sheinbaum refuses to heed the CNTE’s demands, they will not allow the election of magistrates and judges on June 1st.
This Tuesday, the protests will continue at the INE headquarters.
They demand the cancellation of the 2007 ISSSTE reform and a return to the solidarity pension system.
The cancellation of pension payments in the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA) of 113 pesos and the payment of the minimum wage of 278 pesos.
The cancellation of the Teachers’ Career System Unit (USICAMM) and respect for internal ranking by zone, sector, and region.
They warned that the protests will continue in the state capital this Tuesday.
