On Friday night, armed men murdered three women and a man in a restaurant in the Barra Vieja tourist area of Acapulco.

The victims were members of the same family and owners of the establishment.

The previous day, a pregnant woman was shot and killed at a gas station where she worked in the Costa Azul neighborhood.

The Guerrero State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed the multiple murders at 10:00 p.m. and stated that it is investigating the events in Barra Vieja, in the municipality of Acapulco de Juárez, where its personnel located the bodies of three women and a man.

The attack was reported at 7:15 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate that hitmen from organized crime stormed the Playa Aventura restaurant, in the Playa Encantada ejido, near Barra Vieja, southeast of the tourist destination.

Neighbors reported hearing approximately 50 gunshots, which caused terror in the area.

Three of the victims were identified as siblings and owners of the restaurant: Alejandra N, Radacunti N, and José Inés N.

Following the massacre, elements of the Municipal Police, the State Police, the National Guard, and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection deployed a large contingent in the area.

Members of the Ministerial Investigative Police, as well as forensic experts, also arrived at the scene to carry out the initial investigations and collect evidence to gather information.

Hours earlier, Abelina López Rodríguez, the Morena party mayor of Acapulco and a candidate for governor of Guerrero, led a tour before hundreds of people to kick off the “Jolgorio Acapulqueño” festival.

Meanwhile, Governor Evelyn Salgado, daughter of Senator Félix Salgado, who also aspires to be a gubernatorial candidate, has remained silent regarding this latest massacre against tourism service providers.

This policy of silence regarding high-impact crimes has been maintained by the Morena party member since the beginning of her six-year term in 2021.
