A major interinstitutional security operation across the municipalities of Tlapa de Comonfort, Chilapa de Alvarez, and Atlixtac resulted in the initial detention of dozens of individuals suspected of operating without proper police credentials. Part of the National Strategy Against Extortion, the coordinated raids involved elements from the Mexican Army, National Guard, State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), and Guerrero’s Public Security Secretariat, targeting municipal corporative infiltration and localized extortion networks.
Among those targeted by authorities was Simitrio “N”, director of Mobility and Transport in Tlapa de Comonfort, who was directly implicated in an ongoing investigation into aggravated extortion tied to municipal vehicle impound operations. During the simultaneous cateos, security forces secured a substantial arsenal consisting of 284 firearms, alongside 44 cell phones and four official vehicles utilized by the suspects. While initial reports highlighted the detention of over 60 individuals failing to immediately accredit their official status, subsequent administrative reviews and identity verifications by state prosecutors led to the release under legal reservations of the majority of the municipal agents once their active roles were officially confirmed.
Despite the release of verified personnel, legal proceedings advanced against key figures linked to systemic corruption and abuse of authority within the region. The operation underscores the growing federal and state push to purge municipal structures of unaccredited operatives and curb extortion schemes plaguing local communities in Guerrero.
