The flight MX-2021 from Mexicana, which was scheduled to depart from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) to Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2024, was delayed for more than four hours due to a mechanical failure.
According to the passengers, the airline informed them that the plane had a problem with the landing gear and that they had to wait for another aircraft to arrive from Mexico City.
The passengers expressed their discomfort and annoyance, as they had to wait in the terminal without any amenities or compensation. Some of them said that they had important commitments in Zihuatanejo and that they would miss them because of the delay.
The flight finally took off at 2:15 p.m., after the arrival of another plane from Mexicana. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and said that it was working to improve its service and punctuality.
