A group of transporters who were to participate in a protest called by the Guerrero Democratic Front (FDG) were attacked with bullets in the south of the city of Chilpancingo, leaving two people dead and at least four wounded.
The events occurred during the morning of this Wednesday at a public transport stop on Ruffo Figueroa Avenue, a place chosen by the organizers to meet private sector transporters, according to relatives of the wounded.
Officially, the government of Chilpancingo issued a statement in which they reported on the activation of security protocols and the deployment of emergency services to assist the population; however, they have not provided details of the victims so far.
Unofficially, it has been indicated that the victims were van drivers who were shot by a group of armed men around 11:00 in the morning. The Quadratín Agency indicated that one of the two dead would be José Luis “N”, alleged leader of the Guerrero 200 route.
Transporters paralyze Guerrero
The group of transporters attacked this morning had been summoned to meet at 11:30 in front of a Bodega Aurrera store; in images that circulate on social networks, the bodies can be seen lying on the asphalt and some of the 25 spent shells (9 mm caliber) that the forensic services removed from the place.
The victims were going to participate in the day of protests called by the FDG in response to the lack of compliance with the promises made by the state authorities.
Despite the attack, the protests were held in the 8 regions of the state, from the Autopista del Sol, the Zona Diamante of Acapulco and at the entrances to the capital, Chilpancingo. Among their main protests, the lack of government support for the damage caused by hurricanes Otis and John stands out.
“Creation of a comprehensive plan to mitigate flooding. Solutions for transporters affected by overregulation. Emergency support for restaurateurs and tourism service providers affected by hurricanes and low seasons. Changes in land use to promote real estate projects in the San Pedro Playas area,” were part of their petition.
In the Diamond Zone of Acapulco, a large contingent of transporters and businessmen also gathered, asking the authorities for support to rebuild the state, reactivate the economy and put a stop to the wave of violence that has been hitting the population, businesses and political spheres for months.
