The main banks operating in the country announced that they will close some of their branches in the states of Guerrero and Oaxaca, in order to protect the safety of employees and customers in the wake of Hurricane Erika.
BBVA, the largest bank, announced that the branches that will close in Guerrero are Variedades, Flamboyant, Zócalo, Convenciones, Progreso, and Plaza Sendero in Acapulco, as well as the main office in Ometepec.
In Oaxaca, BBVA announced through its networks that the branches in Ciudad Ixtepec, Pinotepa, Pochutla, Putla, Salina Cruz, Refinería Salina Cruz, Puerto Escondido, Huatulco, Juchitán, and Tehuantepec will be closed.
For its part, Banamex reported that the branches that will close in Guerrero are Progreso, Acapulco Diamante, Costa Azul, and Ometepec.
In Oaxaca, Banamex will close its branches in Tehuantepec, Salina Cruz, Ixtepec, Juchitán, Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, Pinotepa, and Pemex Salina Cruz.
Both institutions stated that their mobile apps are operating normally for transactions.
Banamex also stated in a statement that “all our ATMs in both states are operating normally. Additionally, as an option, our customers can use Banamex Móvil and BancaNet.”
