Acapulco is Acapulco: a destination that, despite the adversities of recent years, always finds a way to reinvent itself. And if you’re thinking of visiting this Easter, there’s a new reason to do so: the Azure View glass observation deck, the first of its kind in the port, offering a breathtaking view of Acapulco Bay and a good dose of adrenaline. Its grand opening was announced for Tuesday, March 31st, and it’s located at the top of La Pinzona hill, inside the Mestizza restaurant, in the Las Playas neighborhood, in the traditional Acapulco area. Keep reading, because here we’ll tell you all about this new tourist attraction.
The new Azure View glass observation deck in Acapulco consists of a glass-floored terrace 24 meters long by 3.5 meters wide, which rises more than three meters above the cliff’s edge. It’s designed to give the sensation of flying, with direct views of the bay. The structure, made of glass and steel, was built—according to its owner, businessman Ángel Cisneros—under strict international safety standards for this type of attraction, so it’s designed to withstand impacts and the weight of several people at the same time. The idea arose after a trip to Panama, where he saw similar viewpoints and decided to bring this concept to Mexico.

How much does it cost to go up to the glass viewpoint and what does the experience include? As we mentioned, the Azure View viewpoint is located inside the Mestizza restaurant, so if you decide to eat there, the viewpoint serves as an added bonus to the experience. But if you only want to go up to the viewpoint, there are several packages. Basic access costs $250 pesos and includes the use of your cell phone to take photos. If you prefer something more professional, there’s a $350 peso package, which includes a photo session with staff photographers. And for those who want to take home a more spectacular shot, there’s a $500 peso package that adds a drone flight with panoramic views of the bay. However, there are a few protocols to keep in mind: your time at the viewpoint is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes, and to keep the glass in perfect condition, you must wear protective surgical boots. After your visit, you can stay for lunch or dinner at Mestizza, which offers a diverse menu featuring Guerrero-style and Mediterranean fusion cuisine, as well as grilled cuts of meat. At night, the venue transforms into a nightclub-bar with live music and drinks to extend your evening.

Other viewpoints in Acapulco
If you’re still looking for more views after your Azure View experience, Acapulco has several other viewpoints that are well worth a visit. Some have decades of history, while others have been recently renovated, such as those along the Scenic Highway, which are now part of a safer and more attractive tourist corridor. Here you’ll find two must-see spots: one overlooking Puerto Marqués and the other overlooking Santa Lucía Bay. Another very famous spot is the Chapel of Peace, located atop El Guitarrón hill, accompanied by its iconic 42-meter white cross. If you’re looking for something more relaxed, Sinfonía del Mar is an open-air amphitheater perched on the cliffs, ideal for sitting and watching the sunset to the sound of the waves. And of course, you can’t miss La Quebrada, famous for its cliff diving show, but also for its views of the open sea. So if you visit Acapulco soon, in addition to the new glass viewpoint, there are many other spots from which to enjoy the port even more.
