President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that private hospitals, made up of two associations, will make 3,300 beds available to the public sector within their hospitals for the care of people with COVID -19.

The agreement, said the president, will take place for a month and will have a “minimum cost”, since “there will be no profits, no profits” for private hospitals. He added that tomorrow he will announce the names of the associations and the hospitals that comprise them.

“Today we reached a support agreement, collaboration, is a close action, very supportive of the owners of private hospitals in Mexico, who are going to give us service for a month. They have a capacity, these two associations have a capacity of 6,300 beds in their hospitals throughout the country, “he said in a video published on his social networks.

López Obrador assured that said hospitals will make 3,300 beds available to the Government, of which 500 will be used for intensive care.

“[It is] an agreement, a contract, so that for a month we can have these 3,300 beds so that the public health sector is not saturated when it is considered that the epidemic will increase, when we will have more hospitalized patients and we will have more patients in intensive care. This agreement allows us to attend to all coronavirus patients and not to saturate the intensive care areas, “he said.

The Mexican president acknowledged the support of the two associations, of which, he said, he will announce their names during his morning conference.
