A judge ordered preventive detention and two months of complementary investigation to the police officer accused of the death of the American teenager
The municipal police officer of Acatlán de Pérez Figueroa, Oaxaca, who allegedly shot 16-year-old Alexander on June 9 in the Vicente Camalote community, was charged in the crime of qualified homicide and placed in preventive detention for two months while the corresponding investigations are carried out without bail
In a statement, the Attorney General of the State of Oaxaca (FGEO) detailed that after a 12-hour hearing, a Tuxtepec judge considered all the evidence that was presented valid, so the municipal police identified as SRR was found as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of this teenager.
According to research folder 18130 / FCUEACATLÁN / 2020, on June 9, 2020, around 8:30 p.m., the teenager was riding a Vento brand motorcycle on the Vicente Camalote highway section – at the height of “La Cruz” -, when the 023 patrol of the Acatlán de Pérez Figueroa municipal police, which was coming in the opposite direction with the lights off, blocked their way, the Prosecutor’s Office reported.
The State Prosecutor’s Office pointed out that later on the rear cabin of the patrol, the municipal police officer SRR, who carried a shotgun and shot Alexander, who died, descended
Last week, the state prosecutor, Rubén Vasconcelos, announced that they will ask for the highest sentence for this crime in Oaxaca, which is 40 to 105 years because of the police element involved
While this Monday, relatives of Alexander led a demonstration to demand justice and a stop to the police abuses that are lived in this region of the Papaloapan basin
