The accident occurred on Monday when a small airplane allegedly loaded with cocaine crashed into Querétaro.
This is the second crash in less than a month.
Mexican authorities said on Wednesday that they are investigating the crash of an aircraft with drugs in the center of the country, the second incident of its kind in a few weeks.
The accident occurred on Monday when the small Cessna airplane allegedly loaded with cocaine crashed into Querétaro, after being chased through the air after being detected by the armed forces, the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) said in a statement.
The authorities reported the death of two crew members.
Federal sources told Reuters that “since the incident was reported by the municipal police of Querétaro the case has been investigated , “ and that the people who died had not yet been identified.
A video shared on social networks showed images of the plane flying low, while it was closely followed by helicopters of the Mexican military.
“The persecution began in Oaxaca (about 700 kilometers from Querétaro),” said a source from the Sedena who asked not to be identified for not being authorized to speak on the subject. “Apparently they ran out of fuel,” he added.
This is the second case in less than a month in which a drug aircraft crashes after having violated Mexican airspace.
At the end of September, a Hawker 800 plane, which was allegedly stolen in Mexico and traveled to Venezuela, crashed while trying to land clandestinely in Guatemala.
