Is CBD Oil Legal in Mexico?

Mexico remains one of the only destinations that will welcome American tourists in the coronavirus pandemic. If you decide to take a trip to Mexico this winter to escape the pandemic or the cold weather, you may be wondering if you can bring along your favorite CBD oil.

Mexico was one of the first countries in the world to legalize CBD. Even the US waited until 2018 to pass the Farm Bill making all CBD products with 0.3% THC or less to be federally legal.

There is another major difference in the two countries’ approach to CBD. In Mexico, CBD is treated as a supplement. It can be added to health foods products and advertised as a dietary supplement. In the US this is not the case. Because the FDA considers CBD a drug, it doesn’t consider CBD a supplement. The FDA has recently cracked down on companies making claims suggesting CBD is taken as a dietary supplement.
