Category 5 Hurricane Otis has left 27 dead and 4 missing, and at least one million people affected. More than 30 hours have passed, and the magnitude of the blow in Acapulco, one of the most important tourist ports in Mexico, is barely being known.

There are 6 road closures in the State of Guerrero due to falling trees, landslides, sinkholes and overflows, which has left the port of Acapulco and several municipalities in the State practically cut off. Electricity suffered “a collapse,” in the words of Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Secretary of Civil Protection.
58 high voltage towers, the main source of electrical energy, fell. “There was not a standing pole left of the lines of the Federal Electricity Commission,” Andrés Manuel López Obrador said this morning. “There was nothing left. It is very shocking,” said the president of Mexico, after the passage of Hurricane Otis. There are 504,340 users without electricity supply.
There is also no water supply. Much less internet. Telephone lines towers and fiber optics are greatly affected. Fuel supply is also suspended. The governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado, said this morning that the hurricane affected 80% of the hotels in Acapulco, as communicated to her by the municipal president.
