A couple of tourists from Guanajuato suffered a spectacular accident when they were traveling to Ixtapa on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024.
According to information from the authorities, the tourists from Guanajuato were traveling aboard a compact Honda brand vehicle, type CRV, white with GRU-287-E license plates on the Zihuatanejo-Lázaro Cárdenas national highway.
Presumably, the victims of the accident in Ixtapa were traveling at excessive speed on the highway, which caused the driver of the vehicle to lose control of the steering wheel and the unit to fly due to the unevenness of the lanes.
Due to the speed it was traveling, the car ended up flipping several times on the Zihuatanejo-Lázaro Cárdenas highway until it collided with a retaining wall. After this, the tourists from Guanajuato were seriously injured inside the unit, trapped inside it.
After the accident in Ixtapa, agents of the Red Cross and Civil Protection immediately went to the scene to help the victims. When security elements arrived at the area, they found the tourists from Guanajuato trapped between the twisted iron bars of the car, so they began rescue efforts.
Fortunately, they managed to get the pair of victims out of the unit to transfer them to a medical unit because their health condition was serious.
The Social Work area of the IMSS Bienestar General Hospital of Zihuatanejo ‘Bernardo Sepulveda’, a statement was issued to search for the relatives of the tourists from the state of Guanajuato who suffered the accident in Ixtapa.
