The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported this Sunday the presence of a low-pressure zone associated with tropical wave number 29 located off the Mexican Pacific coast. The probability of cyclonic development is 50 percent in the next 48 hours and 80 percent in seven days.

According to the official report, the system is located approximately 325 kilometers south of Lagunas de Chacahua, Oaxaca, and is moving west-northwest at a speed of between 16 and 24 kilometers per hour. It is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone by the middle of next week.

The Acapulco Port Authority reported that navigation was closed this Sunday due to rain to prevent incidents at sea.

Although the zone of instability is located off the coast of Oaxaca, Guerrero remains under special surveillance, as the phenomenon could generate intense rains, high waves, and gusty winds in coastal municipalities such as Acapulco, Costa Chica, and Costa Grande over the next few days.

State Civil Protection authorities urged the population to remain attentive to weather warnings and avoid spreading rumors. They also recommended that coastal communities and maritime navigation exercise extreme caution due to the possible presence of waves up to 3 meters high and rip currents on beaches and bays.

The Guerrero government reported that permanent monitoring and coordination protocols have been activated with the National Civil Protection Coordination and the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) in order to respond promptly should the system evolve into a depression or tropical storm.

For their part, meteorological experts warn that, due to the active cyclone season in the Pacific Ocean, the states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, Michoacán, and Colima must remain constantly vigilant, as atmospheric conditions favor the development of phenomena with the potential for rapid intensification.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reiterated its call to authorities at all three levels of government and the general public to stay informed about the evolution and trajectory of this system through official channels.
