The “Carnival Corporation” shipping company’s recruitment call exceeded expectations for 20 of its transatlantic ships.

As announced in the call made public last January by municipal authorities, the recruitment of Acapulco residents seeking one of the more than 800 vacancies offered by the shipping company “Carnival Corporation” began on 20 of its transatlantic ships.

The appointment for those who attended the document submission, meeting requirements such as basic English language skills, was at one of the hotels located in the Golden Zone of the Port, where representatives of the cruise company offered vacancies in various areas such as chambermaids, security, waiters, cleaning, assistants, and tourist services on board the ships.

It was in January of this year when Mayor Abelina López Rodríguez and officials from the Municipal Tourism Secretariat announced the call for nearly 900 vacancies on the “Carnival Corporation” cruise line, mainly for Acapulco residents who lost their jobs due to Hurricane Otis.

Contracts for those who secure one of the vacancies on board one of the 20 cruise ships will be for a period of six to nine months, the time considered for the reactivation of the entire tourist industry in Acapulco, where they may return if they so choose.

The attendance of Acapulco residents at the document submission, as outlined in the call made public by the company on its website WWW.OCEANCASINOJOBS.COM, exceeded the expectations of the municipal Tourism authorities.

It will be the administration of the company that owns the 20 cruise ships, which requires filling the workforce, that will determine who meets the requirements to embark on the transatlantic ships and start working.

The past Hurricane Otis devastated the entire tourist industry of Acapulco, and therefore the thousands of jobs that existed in hotels, restaurants, and condominiums. According to the authorities and labor representatives, there are more than ten thousand jobs that have not been restored to date at this beach destination.
