Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is preparing to receive a large influx of tourists in the upcoming winter vacation season. The mayor, Liz Tapia Castro, reported that, according to data from the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Hotel Association (AHIZ), reservations for December are already well underway, reflecting an increase in hotel occupancy.
This enthusiasm is also observed in the high flow of national and international flights, especially from Canada and the United States, which are arriving with high occupancy. It is projected that this winter season will surpass last year’s figures, both in occupancy and economic impact.
The mayor recalled that, since the end of October, the destination has begun to receive foreign tourism, mainly visitors who prolong their stay for weeks and even months, extending their visit until April.
This trend benefits tourism service providers, as it allows for greater economic stability in the destination over several months. With these expectations, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is positioned as one of the most attractive destinations in Mexico for winter tourism.
