The Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) reported that the mayor and a mayor in Guerrero have requested leave of absence from their posts due to insecurity in the region.
The coordinator of the Green Party deputies in Guerrero, Alejandro Carabias Icaza, explained that the request was presented by the mayor of Cuajinicuilapa, Hildeberto Mariche, and said that the mayor of San Nicolás, Tarsila Molina, would also present hers.
Carabias Icaza indicated that both mayors have been the object of threats publicly and privately, but did not offer further details.
However, until last week, the coordinator of the Green Party indicated that the matter had not been reported to the Board of Directors of the Congress of Guerrero.
Local media confirmed that the mayor of Cuajinicuilapa, Stephani Olivia Zárate, also requested leave from her post.
“We stand in solidarity with the decision of the municipal president of Cuajinicuilapa, Hildeberto Salinas Mariche, who has been forced to request leave due to the insecurity,” the party added in a statement on its social networks.
In addition, the State Commission for the Search for Persons in Guerrero issued a search card for the disappearance of the councilor of Cuajinicuilapan, Félix Gil Calleja.
Calleja, 61 years old, was last seen on October 21 in the municipality of Cuajinicuilapan.
Almost a month ago, the murder of the mayor of Chilpancingo, Alejandro Arcos, was recorded; the official was decapitated.
