Amid the aromas of Day of the Dead bread, marigold flowers, and live music by the sea, the spirit of those who passed away will once again illuminate the streets, beaches, and plazas of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo during the 2025 Day of the Dead Festival, which will be celebrated from October 30th to November 2nd. Four days filled with tradition, culture, gastronomy, and family entertainment will bring to life one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year in this charming Guerrero destination.

This celebration will begin on October 30th with the lighting of the Monumental Catrina in Kyoto Plaza, followed by the moving Walk of Light and Butterflies, which will travel along the Paseo del Pescador to the heart of Zihuatanejo. That evening, the atmosphere will be filled with aromas and flavors with the Day of the Dead Bread, Coffee, and Mezcal Festival, in which local bakeries, restaurants, and businesses will participate. The event will also include the “Catrinas de mi Tierra” textile fashion show and the official opening of the festival, which will close with live music by the Zihuana Band.

Meanwhile, Zihuatanejo Bay will be transformed into a stage of light and excitement with the traditional Illuminated Boat Parade on October 31st. Afterward, the Day of the Dead and the Men of the Sea Commemorative Video will be screened, a moving presentation of symbolic offerings to those who rest in the depths of the Pacific. The evening will continue with a cultural show alluding to the holiday and musical performances by Skalibur and DJ Rino, who will set the pace for this colorful and traditional evening.

In this destination, the festive spirit is kept alive on November 1st with the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Catrina Parade, whose theme this year is the Monarch Butterfly, a symbol of the return of souls to the world of the living. Music will accompany the parade with the participation of Grupo Swing and Grupo Vertical. At the same time, the destination’s hotels will participate in the Offering Contest, while Ixtapa will host the First Mixology Festival, with exhibitions, sales, and cocktail and costume competitions.

The festivities for these dates will culminate on November 2nd with the Day of the Dead Cultural Theme Sunday, the Zihuatanejo Catrina Contest, and a star-studded performance by Grupo Slogan, which will bring this grand celebration to a close, honoring memory with joy, music, and pride.

There is no doubt that this season, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is emerging as the ideal destination to experience these emblematic dates, with activities that integrate art, tradition, and the joyful spirit of a place that celebrates life by the sea.
